Meet our Founders
Our founders Soraya and Nicki wanted to reinvent fast food by bringing to Dallas delicious meals served quick and focused on flavors. Better meals, better ingredients and better lives. .
Soraya is an Algerian native with acclaimed international experience opening and operating restaurants. Born into a family of chefs, she grew up in the kitchen, both at home and at her family’s restaurants. She built on this early education with formal training at the world-renowned Institute Paul Bocuse, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management.
In 2010, Soraya helped to open the Lyon Brasserie for the Word Expo in Shanghai. She then moved to Hong Kong, where she spent five years working with their top restaurant conglomerates. Among them was Dining Concepts, which is renowned for its world-famous chefs, including Gordon Ramsey. At Maximal Concepts, Soraya executed the opening of five restaurants which quickly became Hong Kong’s hot spots. Now in Dallas, she studies at Le Cordon Bleu to earn a Culinary Certificate to further her knowledge and pursue her fervent passion for food. She enjoys spinning in her free time and is super health conscious in her own cooking, avoiding refined sugars and minimizing sodium. A practicing vegetarian for four years, Soraya recently reintroduced meat into her meals, realizing that incorporating fresh proteins in moderation was ideal. Soraya resides in Dallas with her husband and newborn son, where she presides over the family kitchen.
Nicki grew up in a family where cooking and enjoying great food was not only a passion, but a way of life. Watching her Italian father, who was an exceptionally skilled cook, she acquired the culinary experience and devotion to preparing fresh and flavorful food that she brings to Gather Kitchen.
Nicki attended Tulane University in New Orleans where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Following graduation, she moved to New York City, where she attended the Parsons School of Design and pursued a career as a fashion stylist. While her career in fashion was flourishing, Nicki always felt a pull into the health and fitness world. In addition to being an avid exercise enthusiast, she learned firsthand how healthy eating could cure long time digestive ailments.
Nicki took matters into her own hands and became extra mindful about the food she was putting into her body. Despite the ease of eating out in New York’s celebrated food scene, Nicki chose to create her own healthy meals free of processed foods. This transformational journey lead her to discover recipes that were Paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free, yet delicious and satisfying. She is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant. Nicki lives in Dallas where she continues to cook and experiment in her own kitchen, creating nutritious versions of her not-so-healthy favorites.
